THE LADY BEHIND THE NAME, YVETTE ALEXANDER

Yvette Alexander has been a Senior Executive with decades of both public and private sector experience within the heart of Washington D.C. Her most recent accomplishment had her as a DC council member from 2007 to 2016, in which she served as the District’s central and chief policy-making body. During her term, she provided strong, innovative and effective leadership qualities that benefited the residents of Ward 7, and throughout the city. It enabled her to gain a keen understanding and eventual expertise in areas of healthcare, (with an emphasis on primary healthcare in underserved communities), hospital administration, and government financing, (including Medicare/Medicaid state/local reimbursements, and implementation of the DC Healthlink under the Affordable Care Act).

Senior executive with decades of both public and private sector experience. Most recently served as a member of the District of Columbia Council, which serves as the District’s central and chief policy-making body. Provided strong, innovative and effective leadership for the benefit of residents in Ward 7 and cross the city, working with three Mayors and the executive branch. Developed a keen understanding and eventual expertise in areas of healthcare – with a focus on primary healthcare in underserved communities, healthcare, disparities, hospital administration, and government financing (to include Medicare/Medicaid state/local reimbursements and implementation of the DC Healthlink under the Affordable Care Act).

Responsible for compliance and regulation of HMO’s, Health Plans and health insurance companies domiciled in the District of Columbia. Also handled consumer inquiries and complaints and provided support for brokers, agents and companies.

April 1999- Jan. 2001: American Preferred Provider Plan, EPSDT Coordinator

Responsible for the overall leadership, performance and compliance of the Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) Program for children enrolled in the company’s Medicaid managed care plan ages 0-18 to ensure completion of well child care visits, and immunizations. Produced quarterly reports for Case Management and Utilization review.

Sept 1993- Oct. 1998: Chartered Health Plan, Medicaid Marketing Manager

Implemented strategies to produce continued growth in membership to the company’s Medicaid managed care recipients. Responsibilities included screening prospective members in acute and community settings, coordinating clinical and financial assessments for eligibility and families with the enrollment process. Also managed our Sales and Marketing team.
